Every year we take a camping trip to Ft. Stevens for about 5 days over Labor Day weekend. Jon's immediate and extended family make the trip towards the beach and we have a wonderful time riding bikes and hanging out with family around the campfire.
This year will be the first year with the babies, and their first time camping. This totally changes the way we prepare for our trip. It seems like there are so many more "important" things we have to make fit in the car. Fortunately, we will be borrowing my moms' Honda Odyssey and not be cramming everything, and everyone, into my little Civic (not that it would even be humanly possible).
We leave on Wednesday (just two days away), and we have no idea how this trip will turn out (we plan to come home Sunday). There are just so many unknowns since we have never gone camping with the girls. How do we keep them warm at night? How will we bathe them? Where can we put them down so that they can play and not be held 24/7? These are just a few of the questions we have pondered and attempted to problem solve.
So, if you've camped with a 6 month old (or two), and have some advice, we would love to hear it!
