Heart Braid
On Valentine's Day, Esme told me she wanted a heart in her hair. I decided to attempt a heart shaped braid. Although not a perfect heart, she was happy with it. I'll have to practice a little more and maybe it'll be a little easier when her hair grows longer. Poor Ellerie...her hair is still too short for braids.

First Snowman
With all this snow we have gotten over the past several days (it's finally starting to melt today), we had to build a snowman. It wasn't the best snowman building snow (too dry), but we managed to make a very little one and my girls had fun helping. It was their first snowman and they were very excited about it.

Dress up
We love playing dress up around here. I was fortunate to snag several costumes after Halloween at Target for 90% off and a couple at Old Navy...great additions for their dress up box. I gave them to my girls for Christmas presents and they love them! They're great for imaginative play!
Here is pirate Esme! Gotta love a pirate in Minnie Mouse socks!

Moments
I just had to share this photo. I love this girl! She makes me smile! I asked her if I could take her picture (I was loving her outfit choice), and this is what she gave me.

Out for a Walk
There is a park with a lake that is within walking distance (1 + mile) of our house. There is a nice path around the lake and a playground at one end. It's a nice park.
We decided to venture there today. The girls and I go for lots of walks around our house without the stroller (we honestly don't use one much anymore), but I decided that today the walk would be more for me this time and I would let them ride in the stroller while I got a little exercise
The girls had a lot of fun watching everything from the comfort of their stroller.

New Hats!
My brother has become quite the knitter! He and his wife moved to Amsterdam for a year for grad school (they have been back for over a year now) and my brother decided to teach himself how to knit while he was there. He has made my girls several fabulous hats (including the new ones they received for Christmas in the picture below) and even an amazing sweater!
Here are my girls in their new hats made by "Uncle Jesse!"

How to talk to your daughter about her body...
I just finished reading this great post from Hope Avenue about how to talk to your daughter about her body. If you have a daughter, or daughters, go take a look!

No Words...
We were playing at the mall play area early this morning and a man scolded Esme (shaking his finger at her) because her foot bonked his granddaughter's (about 3 years old) face when climbing up the stairs to the slide. Esme was in front of the girl and had no idea what even happened. I almost came unglued, but kept my cool. I probably should have said something, but I was pretty upset and didn't know if I could find the right words. I had no words...I was shocked!
I am actually surprised Esme didn't get upset. She's not used to being spoken to that way. If she had reacted, I would have definitely said something.
I felt bad the girl got hurt, but really...you have to scold my daughter?? She didn't even know what she did! A gentle, "Be careful" would have been more appreciated. Or perhaps it could have been a teaching opportunity for his granddaughter...to give some space between her and the child in front of her on the stairs. They're little kids!
Fortunately, they left soon after!
