4 Months Old & Happy 4th
The girls turned 4 months old on the 4th of July! With two little ones, we knew a fireworks 4th would not be in the plans. We still had a wonderful 4th spent with some good friends who didn't mind missing out on a fireworks show with us. Our friends, Whitney and Dan, have a little 2+ month old girl, Lily, and we spent the afternoon with them and a few others. We had a BBQ and just hung out and took pictures of all our beautiful girls (Thanks, Whitney, for the beautiful pics!). A BBQ and babies...what could be better!?!
Here are a few things about the girls at 4 months...
Both girls are rolling over from their tummies to their backs. Ellerie has been trying to roll over from her back to her tummy...she gets to her side.
The girls LOVE to have books read to them. Their new favorite book is "Where is Baby's Bellybutton." I think it is all the illustrations of babies that intrigue them. We read to them throughout the day, and then 4-6 books as part of their bedtime routine.
They also love being sung to. Books and songs calm our fussy babies. Some of their new favorite songs are "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "Head and Shoulders."
The girls are full of smiles and happy squawks. They love to carry on a "conversation" with anyone who will take the time...of course, it also depends on their moods. They will often carry on a "conversation" with each other...especially in the back seat of the car.
Our nights are great! We start the bedtime routine around 6:15 or 6:30 pm. Baths are every other day at this point and the girls are usually asleep by 7:30...often earlier. They are out for the night, and will usually sleep until 6:30 or 7 the next morning.
Naps are still all over the board, but it seems like they may be finally starting to transition out of several all day "power naps" and into fewer longer naps.
Both Jon and I are back to work. I am fortunate enough to be able to bring the girls with me sometimes. This makes my days really exhausting and challenging at times, but I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my girls...even while making an income. My mom has been a help some...she takes one girl or the other on occasion so that we each only have one baby to tend to. It does help!
Life with twins is really busy. It's hard to slow down and enjoy the little moments, but I really try. The house is frequently messier than I would prefer, and sometimes dinner is a bowl of cereal, but we have made our priority "family time."
